2019 Boston Marathon


At 7 a.m., the area experienced a torrential lightening storm. Everyone was safe. By 9 a.m. there was only a very light drizzle if that, and the wheelchair race began on time.

Men’s Wheelchair winner

Daniel Romanchuk from Urbana, Illinois. 20 years old. Finished in 1 hour 21 minutes and 36 seconds.

With his victory, Romanchuk became the youngest push rim race winner in Boston Marathon history and the first US men’s wheelchair champion since 1993, according to the BAA. (from Boston.com).

Women’s Wheelchair winner

Manuela Schar from Switzerland.  34 years old.  Finished in 1 hour, 34 minutes and 19 seconds

Men’s Handcycle Winner

Tom Davis from Indiana.  41 years old.  Finished in 1 hour 1 minute and 22 seconds

Women’s Handcycle winner

Devann Murphy from New York. 39 years old. Finished in 2 hours, 1 minute and 2 seconds
