  • Disability Law Center – mission is to provide legal advocacy on disability issues that promote the fundamental rights of all people with disabilities to participate fully and equally in the social and economic life of Massachusetts.
  • Community Legal Aid – free civil legal aid provider for residents of the five counties of Central and Western Massachusetts (Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden, Hampshire, and Worcester).
  • Volunteer Lawyers Project – strive to give equal access to representation for the people of Greater Boston, standing up for those who are from lower income households and in need of legal aid.

  • Legal Resource Finder – Answer a few questions and get contact information for legal aid offices, government agencies and court programs that may be able to help you for free or at low cost. They will also give you links to free legal information and self-help materials.

  • MA Law Reform Institute (MLRI) – provides statewide advocacy and leadership in advancing laws, policies, and practices that secure economic, racial, and social justice for low-income people and communities.

Health and Mental Health Specialties

  • Health Law Advocates – Pro-bono legal representation to low-income residents experiencing difficulty accessing or paying for needed medical services.
  • Mental Health Legal Advisors Committee – As a state agency, advancing the rights and opportunities of persons with mental health challenges through quality legal advocacy and education in Massachusetts
  • Center for Public Representation – CPR uses legal strategies, advocacy, and policy to promote the integration and full community participation of people with disabilities and all others who are devalued in today’s society.
    • Supported Decision-making – Supported decision-making (SDM) is an effective alternative to guardianship that is gaining momentum in Massachusetts and nationwide. Supported decision-making is a way of making decisions that people with disabilities can use.
  • Bazelon Center for Mental Health Rights – National organization for changing policies and laws for people with mental illness.
